The Show
BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2013: Horizon Award Winner

Blair Dunlop is heir to an impressive British folk dynasty, son of Fairport Convention/ Steeleye Span/ Albion Band icon Ashley Hutchings. Here, he sets out to prove that he is not just a phenomenal young guitarist and singer but an increasingly adventurous songwriter, with an entertaining and impressively varied set ranging from thoughtful, drifting murder ballads to upbeat songs with a bluegrass edge, and a series of distinctive traditionals.

What marks Blair out from his peers is both his incredible talent and his ability to craft meaningful songs that connect with everyone who claps ears on them. His personable performance style creates an intimate atmosphere, like being in your cosy front room on a cold winter’s night.

‘An immensely talented singer, hugely accomplished guitarist, with a stage presence that is far beyond his years.’ Tudor Folk

‘An excellent young guitarist [and] increasingly adventurous songwriter.’ Guardian

‘Powerful lyrics and accomplished guitar work [confirm] his place as a leading figure in modern folk music.’ Telegraph

Peter Knight’s GIGSPANNER

Peter Knight’s Gigspanner are renowned for their huge contribution to folk although to classify these three virtuoso performers purely as folk musicians is to undersell them by a long chalk…

A bedrock of British traditional music is to be expected from Peter Knight, Steeleye Span’s erstwhile legendary fiddle player, alongside Roger Flack on guitar and Vincent Salzfaas on Congas and Djembe. But, Gigspanner’s musical reach flirts with Eastern European, French, Cajun, African and even Aboriginal influences, transporting audiences at a blistering musical pace on a fabulous world tour.
